Public bug reported:

during an update recently, gpodder lost the ability to open media files.
Now it opens a nautilus folder pointing at the item in question -
definitely not as useful.  (especially if you're queuing for a 12 hour
drive)

A tangent:
Also, there is no way to mark a podcast as 'viewed/listened to'.   That would 
be quite handy!
