I can confirm this bug on my Dell XPS 15.

I have two outputs. One S/PDIF output, where everything works fine. But
when I plug in my headphone the the other output connector, pulseaudio
changed 'connector' to analog headphone and I get no sound. When I
manually change connector from 'analog headphone' to 'analog speakers',
there is sound comming through my headphone.

I also noticed that when changing pulseaudio from 'analog speakers' to
'analog headphone', the 'Speaker' volume in alsamixer is muted. When I
unmute this, I can also hear sound (through my headphone)
