My laptop is Asus Z71V . The audio device is "00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)". I also have the sound problem after resume. Backlight control doesn't work either after resuming from hibernation.
The kernel http://rookery.ubuntu.com/~kyle/kernels/salgado/2007-04-25/ helps when I have HIBERNATE_MODE=platform in /etc/default/acpi-support . The problem is that the computer won't shutoff by itself in suspend (I have to press the power button to shut it off). After installing uswsusp and using "shutdown method = platform" in /etc/uswsusp.conf , the sound problem went away . I had to edit /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh in order to get uswsusp working (uswsusp doesn't understand the -x and -y parameters in hibernate.sh). btw.
