Just adding my vote here. I have seen this ever since upgrading to 11.10 on multiple machines. It is really annoying.
This happens on a 64-bit desktop and a 32-bit laptop. (I can't remember, but I think the laptop had 11.10 installed directly and wasn't an upgrade.)
