I want to confirm this bug.

I'm running Xubuntu 11.10 on an Asus eeePC 900A.
I wanted to conserve battery power, so I used the Network Manager Applet to 
turn off the wireless.
That worked.

But, when I tried to re-enable the wireless, I found that the option was
no longer displayed in the Network Manager Applet menu.

My NM doesn't simply gray-out the "wireless" option.  It actually isn't
there anymore.

PS: I now have no idea how to re-enable wireless on this netbook.
