The M button is for demonstration. The devs could use it because is
small and non intrusive, but It could be changed to say "menu" or be the
name of the app too, if they think is better.

However, you should note, that this is not the same as a "non
persistent" dropdown menu button like firefox or opera.

As from the feedback in the comments, a horizontal, on-demand and
persistent solution would work better for a number of apps (specially
productivity), than the vertical kde appmenu. You toggle it when needed.

For predictability the global menu is also available, as suggested in
comment #60 (which also has a patch that seems to implements about 60 or
70% of the design).

So this is half done and looks like is the current solution that has the
most characteristics users were asking for.
