Please don't report problems related to the dropbox package provided by dropbox, I only control the Ubuntu package, not the dropbox one. The package provided by dropbox install binaries in your /home and if you installed an autostart script that point to those binaries (which can be done with "dropbox autostart") then the it might run even if the package is not correctly installed/configured.
