Hello, The bug mentioned here regarding the Samsung M50 laptop and the black screen is still an issue in the current version of Ubuntu, I have only today (08/December 2011) downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu desktop from the Ubuntu website, burnt it to Disk and tried to boot my Samsung laptop from it.
The Live CD Menu appears to work correctly and i can change boot options, choose what i would like to-do i.e. test linux, install linux etc but if i opt ot test linux (Try Ubuntu Without Installing) then it goes off and makes a lot of hard disk and CD Rom noise, eventually after about 5 minutes i hear the ubuntu Login sound, but no acutal desktop image just a black / blank screen. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355324 Title: [SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.,LTD SM50S] hibernate/resume failure [non- free: nvidia] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/355324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
