Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a USB key with persistance. I have had
issues with loading and running the drivers for the wireless adapter
which is a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN in my Compaq Presario notebook
computer. When I power up, the default driver does not switch on the
adapter. I am required to manually load the driver. The default B43
driver does not appear to work and crashed this time so I must load the
propriotry Broadcom STA driver which does not always switch the adapter
on either. I have had the same issue with Ubuntu 10.04 on a USB key.
