The "Shift-Ctrl-T opens multiple tabs" problem could be related to the keyboard key repeat setting. I tried pressing and holding Shift-Ctrl-T, and LXTerminal opened multiple tabs. LXTerminal should only open a single tab when Shift-Ctrl-T is pressed, i.e. it should ignore repeated keys if T remains held down.
