I was unable to reproduce the bug on a 7.04 (final) LiveCD, so it looks
like this was just a Beta issue.

--Bjorn

** Description changed:

  This happened on Ubuntu Fiesty 7.04 beta livecd, burned on 31/3/07

  The system was an Acer Aspire 3618AWLCi notebook with integrated Intel
  graphics, the default keyboard, etc.

  This may only be a livecd issue...

  To reproduce:

  Boot 7.04 beta

  Press Crtl-Meta-Fx, where x!=7

  You should receive a completely black background with a blinking
  horizontal cursor in the upper-left hand corner of the screen. Any
  typed text will not echo, and nothing shows if you enter a command (I
  tried "ls"). You can still return to the graphical interface with Crtl-
  Meta-F7.

  The exception was in tty8, where the text-based remains of the boot
  process remained on the screen, the last line of which was

   * Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)                [ OK ]
+
+ Addendum:
+
+ I was _not_ able to duplicate this bug with the release version of
+ Feisty Fawn.
