Public bug reported:

I was looking to install MESS when I noticed that xmess-sdl was removed
from Debian back in the beginning of the year, replaced by mess-sdl
built from the mame package. I also noticed that it seems that the
Ubuntu mame package is not the same beast, and although a mess package
seems to exist according to packages.ubuntu.com, the mame source package
doesn't build it. Is there a planned effort to import the mame package
from Debian?

** Affects: mame (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
