There should be a textread function provided with the package octave-io.
Since the upgrade to octave-3.4 isn't happening in oneiric (11.10) it
would be nice to at least update the package to include it.
This is the second time I'm being burned by unresonable packagers,
thanks for making me miss another submission deadline!
