Crash works equally well under compiz and metacity. I could not get the crash to occur while using either Google Earth (I got plenty of other crashes from that) or Kolourpaint as described in Bug #415357, though I have not spent nearly as much time using these programs as kicad. I couldn't (thusfar) confirm it to occur using Gimp either.
