Can you try switching to gp-gpl by doing:
sudo apt-get install gs-gpl
sudo update-alternatives --set gs /usr/bin/gs-gpl
Does this solve your problem?
If you cannot print anymore now, return to gs-esp with
sudo update-alternatives --set gs /usr/bin/gs-esp
