Public bug reported: I think that the dash home layout should be reconsidered. The first screen is shortcuts which seems a little redundant when you have the dock to stick your commonly used applications. It also means that to launch an application that is not in your dock you have to click on dash home, click the applications button on the bottom, click to open the filters if you want to use it, click the "See more results" button, find your app and then lose it. This is far too many clicks and the layout of the applications tab is horrible as it has the "most used" filter and the "Available for Download" filter taking up a lot of real estate on what is already a small window. I think the search at the top is good as it gives quick access if you know the name of the program but I think the install dash screen should be the applications window that only shows the installed tab and the "available for download" and "most used" filters should be closed (not even have one row of icons) or maybe added to the filters section. This means that used will be able to navigate to their programs easier. This would accommodate power users who can type the program they want to use and novice users who can find their program without going through a maze of buttons and filters to find it. Programs should be no more than 2-3 clicks away but this dash makes them 5-6 clicks which is too many. The filters are a good idea but they should be less prominent. You could also consider moving the filters for applications to the left side of the screen so that once you have clicked the dash home you can move to the filter and then to the application. This seems like a more logical and faster means of getting to your content.
