** Description changed:

Not a bug, but a feature request: Xubuntu has by default a lot of icons
on the desktop. For all hard disk partitions, for the file system, for
the personal folder and for Trash.

This looks untidy and gives the desktop a crowded and ugly look. The
only icon present should be the Trash.

It can be changed easily by the user, of course: simply right-click on
the desktop - Desktop Settings... - Tab icons: remove all checks except
  the one for Trash.

But the first impression is important, so only one icon should be
  default.
+
+ The disadvantage of my proposal is, that an USB memory stick won't show
+ as an icon on the desktop when you insert one. However, since Thunar
+ opens automatically a window with the contents of the USB stick, this is
+ no problem. No need for a desktop icon...
