Josef,

there is no easycap module in the mainline kernelpackage!
(I read in the CHANGES file, that many changes have been applied o the driver.)

Ok,
I tested the

linux-image-3.2.0-030200rc2-generic_3.2.0-030200rc2.201111151435_i386.deb
Kernel from the mainline directory and even the daily built Kernel from today,
but in both packages there is no easycap module.
The kernels were booting without any problem. So, after plugging in the Easycap
DC60, dmesg reported, that only the snd_usb_audio module was loaded.
(I even could not find any easycap.ko in the
/lib/modules/3.2.0-030200rc2-generic directory)

Regards

Andreas

Betreff: [Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while
playback

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel?  It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test
the latest v3.2-rcN kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory).  Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the others). This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at
the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-
testing' text.

If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'.  For example, if kernel
version 3.2-rc1 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed-
upstream-v3.2-rc1'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.  If you
believe this bug does not require upstream testing, please add the tag:
'kernel-upstream-testing-not-needed'.

Thanks in advance.

Title:
easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
While playing any video source with the EasycapDC60 device (with or
without audio playback at the same time) ~ 10% frames are dropped with
mplayer (and also if the Easycap is used with VLC or Tvtime).

I suppose this issue is related to the staging/easycap kernelmodule.

I found this thread on lkml.org concerning the staging/easycap module:
