I can also confirm that the image is correct with <= 640x480, but all resolutions above have distorted chroma. It used to work in Natty.
btw: I've tried a workaround suggested by "Juan Francisco Contreras García" (juanfcocontreras) in bug-thread #838739 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/cheese/+bug/838739/comments/16), and installed "libv4l" from PPA. Now all resolutions work fine again.
