This seems to be something really related to oneiric (if coupled kernel
or not), for all the cams worked in natty and none works in oneiric,
despite of upgrading from 11.04 or install 11.10 from scratch.

Is there any update here?

As this bug is "unassigned", can we hope for a solution? Would be silly
to buy a new webcam just because having upgraded the software (and not
silly but impossible with all the embedded webcams). Ubuntu claims "it
just works! - but it is annoying if with an upgrade "it just does not
work" any more...

I am an end user so I have not too much possibilities to do anything
relevant here, just cry for help and I hope my crying is heard...

Until there is some solution I deleted oneiric and reinstalled natty on
my "production" machine for I need the webcam functionality.

Perhaps one should not stick to the 6-monts-rhytm with "new" releases if
in every release there is that much neww that there is always something
wrong. Make just one a year but make it working...
