Me too. but I fixed mine after the update this morning by unholding
xserver-xorg-core which immediately upgraded it and X then worked on rebooting. 
 I don't know why it was on hold as it appears as a dependency and should have 
been installed with xorg-server upgrade. I left Debian to get away from this 
stuff but Ubuntu seems to have reverted to Debian ways since the Dapper 
release; too bad. My issue seem to be a dependecy failure rather thain a 
xorg-server bug; but I no geek. Perhaps this is a different issue in my case?
