I use Feisty + totem-xine - but I already have this problem since Edgy (I thought it was working in Dapper - but I'm not sure anymore). Strange thing is - I also have a Omnibook with a i830 chipset - and it's the same behaviour there - which makes me kind of suspect that it is more xorg than driver related. Also when I use mplayer with opengl output it works fine.
