I have been having the same symptoms Cristian described. I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 on a Dell Latitude E6520 (dual-boot with Windows 7 Enterprise). At first audio and video were fine, but now I get no audio, and video skips in "hiccups" every few seconds. All multimedia exhibits these symptoms, not just Flash. It did not coincide with any system updates that I recall.
I have tried several workarounds/fixes recommended online, but none have had any apparent effect.
