amd64 describes the architecture used by both amd and intel for 64-bit processors(for more trivia info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amd64). Do not try installing IA-64 as it is a different architecture and not compatible with your hardware(amd64 should be).
In what stage of the install process does you installation freeze? Can you work in the live enviroment? If not can you reach a root terminal? Try running the following command from the live session to automatically add information about your hardware to the bug report: apport-collect -p linux 887066 If you can't, try and manually specifying what sort of hardware your laptop has. What make and model is it? What graphics chip does it have?(geforce/radeon/intel) ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887066 Title: Installation failed on 64 Bit Intel Core i5 Processors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/887066/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
