Thank you. Yes, I got jammed by all the current bug posting advice requiring apport. Clearly I couldn't use it for this.
I chased my tail for a long while, then eventually just clicked a "report bug" link at the bottom of an existing page. Hence this mistake which required my betters to clean up. Sorry, but it was that or not report the issue.
