Hi ! I've got an Acer Aspire 5024 WLMI which is quite the same laptop, excepting the CPU ... and some other stuffs ... (3020 and 5020 series are very similar) I've installed Feisty Fawn on my laptop and ran into the same problems : X hngs up with a black (it should have been corrected but not ! Same results since Dapper ...) For the wifi, i use acer_acpi which is a MUST on this computer.
I've made some tutorials about acer aspire (in french !) on my blog (http://www.mumblyworld.info) and i've just made a beta realease .deb package of acer_acpi-0.5 (new version). You will find it there : http://repository.mumblyworld.info.
