Public bug reported: With "term screen-256color-s" in .screenrc screen automatically set $TERMCAP variable which breaks applications like mc with 256 color support. Running mc in bare rxvt or as `TERMCAP="" mc' workarounds the problem.
In order to fix it screen shouldn't touch $TERMCAP unless specifically instructed in .screenrc to do so. ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 screen 4.0.3-14ubuntu7 ncurses-term 5.7+20101128-1 rxvt-unicode 9.09-3 ** Affects: screen (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883605 Title: unrequested TERMCAP break 256 color support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/screen/+bug/883605/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
