I decided to create a new bug 883169, since solution to this bug did not
work for my Brother MFC-8840D usb printer. And I also made an
interesting discovery. I created an Xubuntu 11.10 liveCD, loaded
without installing, opened Settings:Printing, and there was my usb
Brother printer automatically detected and setup! And it works. So
what is the difference between Xubuntu and Ubuntu that would allow
Xubuntu to detect a Brother usb printer?
