I've never made a .desktop file before, but here's my attempt at fixing the bug:
1. Put the attached file in ~/.local/share/applications 2. Download the icon from http://eecs.northwestern.edu/~robby/logos/plt-logo-red-diffuse.svg and save it to /usr/local/share/icons/drracket.svg After doing the two steps above, DrRacket shows up in the Dash and has an icon on the launcher.
