Same here: After the upgrade to Oneiric, my old webcam is not recognized anymore. Webcam is: Bus 002 Device 005: ID 041e:4052 Creative Technology, Ltd Live! Cam Vista IM Webcam light is ON.
Webcam worked in cheese and skype and googletalk until 11.04 - now not any more. It also does not work on a brand new fresh install from scratch of 11.10. All SW says "No device connected". I tried LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l1compat.so" skype and no help. I installed gtk2-engines-pixbuf - still no help. I unfortunately am still too "blonde" to handle upstream or kernel issues or bugs so please answer here if there is any help.
