It seems we should change opendict depends to use python-wxgtk2.8 - 
wxWidgets2.6 soon will be removed from Debian, also this would fix bug #662077 
(WxWidgets apps don't have menus) - currently only wxWidgets2.8 are patched to 
have menubar in Ubuntu 10.10 or newer.
OpenDict works fine with python-wxgtk2.8, I just tested this, see bug #881381 
for more info.

Currently (while opendict uses python-wxgtk2.6) I'm forced to replace 
/usr/bin/opendict with attached script:
export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0
exec /usr/share/opendict/opendict.py "$@"
