Thanks for filing this separate bug report. I'm reassigning it to the ifupdown package; interfaces managed by network-manager do not trigger this delay, only those managed in /etc/network/interfaces.
Please show the output of this command: $ ls -l /run/network Are you sure you're current with all packages from the final 11.10 release? There were several bugs related to this problem that were fixed shortly before release. > but seems to be stuck until enter key is pressed. By this, you mean the message is left on the screen for longer than 60 seconds, and boot only continues if you hit enter?
