Hello Roman, Thank you for reporting this bug, your attention to detail is appreciated. I'm sorry for your suffering with this bug. Would you please explain more, what you mean with "change text encoding from editor's menu"? AFAIk, gEdit does it from a menu on the bottom bar(Kindly see attached screenshot), so, you request to make it possible through the "File" menu (for example) so you can reach it with a shortcut key, or what?
