Public bug reported:

I have pidgin set to automatically start when I login. Roughly 90% of
the time, I end up with at least two, and usually three instances of
pidgin running when the session finishes loading. This may be a bug in
the session manager, but it only happens with Pidgin, not with any of
the other programs that I have starting automatically.
