Public bug reported: Had the same issue with 11.04. Ended up completely disabling the card on startup in order to get my notebook to actually run.
Here are the details from 11.04. Can someone please advise if I can update to 11.10 (I want to do a fresh install) and have my Ethernet card work? id: pci:1 description: PCI bridge product: ATI Technologies Inc vendor: ATI Technologies Inc physical id: 15 bus info: pci@0000:00:15.0 version: 00 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pci pm pciexpress msi ht normal_decode bus_master cap_list configuration: driver = pcieport resources: irq : 16 ioport : 3000(size=4096) memory : f0200000-f02fffff ioport : f0000000(size=1048576) id: network description: Wireless interface product: RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0 logical name: wlan0 version: 01 serial: 68:a3:c4:c3:00:bc width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast = yes driver = rtl8192ce driverversion = 2.6.38-11-generic firmware = N/A ip = 192.168.5.103 latency = 0 link = yes multicast = yes wireless = IEEE 802.11bgn resources: irq : 16 ioport : 3000(size=256) memory : f0200000-f0203fff id: pci:2 description: PCI bridge product: ATI Technologies Inc vendor: ATI Technologies Inc physical id: 15.1 bus info: pci@0000:00:15.1 version: 00 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pci pm pciexpress msi ht normal_decode bus_master cap_list configuration: driver = pcieport resources: irq : 16 ioport : 2000(size=4096) memory : f0100000-f01fffff id: network description: Ethernet controller product: AR8152 v2.0 Fast Ethernet vendor: Atheros Communications physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:06:00.0 version: c1 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vpd bus_master cap_list configuration: latency = 0 resources: memory : f0100000-f013ffff ioport : 2000(size=128) ** Affects: gnome-nettool (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878491 Title: Computer freezes when starting laptop with LAN card enabled.
