I initially reported this graphical glitch with a screenshot and have
been testing it since 3.2 and haven't been able to reproduce it with the
latest upgrades yet, it has a very sporadic behavior.

What I meant with Fedora is that distribution has the latest
gconf/glib/gobject libraries yet I haven't looked at what versions and
maybe the fix is already in upstream as would seem with the latest
upgrade.

Complementary to this, killing gconfd-2 effectively reproduces the bug.
It might seem what ever was crashing gconf-2 before isn't now and that
gnome-shell does not have an adequate fallback mechanism for when this
happens.
