I can confirm that the UI for the login sound is back in "Startup
Applications Preferences". Thanks!

However, I don't hear anything even when it's enabled. Running

  /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="GNOME
Login"

from a terminal window results in the error message "Failed to play
sound: File or data not found".

Not that I care too much, considering that I don't want to hear it
anyway. ;-)
