Update: This is a little different now... it appears that SOME USB devices cause severe instability on SOME systems. I've now observed this with two dell systems, Vostro 3550 and a Latitude E6510. On both machines, connecting the wireless mouse/kbd dongle caused the systems (Unity/X specifically) to become very unstable. Not sure what the connection is, but on the 6510 I saw where X Segfaulted after plugging the dongle in.
I tried a USB corded mouse on the 6510 and this didn't occur. So... why does a wireless mouse/keyboard dongle cause some of these systems (Vostro 3550, Latitude E6510, Thinkpad T420) to become so very unstable? Also, the other two systems this happened on were running Unity 2D. The 6510 is running Unity 3D and the nvidia current drivers. ** Summary changed: - [Vostro 3550] Strange results with USB devices on Oneiric with 2D unity running + Strange results with some USB devices on Oneiric - X instability and segfaulting, Unity issues, etc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875815 Title: Strange results with some USB devices on Oneiric - X instability and segfaulting, Unity issues, etc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/875815/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
