.... no I didn't fix it... I looked at it together with Phil, we have a
patch (he wrote it) that helps the situation a bit - at least the webcam
gets recognized, but the image appears black with no
brightness/contrast/etc volume controls whatsoever, and there are no
error messages this time.

The patch is in http://pastie.org/private/nxv8vapdzbjp80e1ve4cka if you
want to investigate.
