Not sure why the release of 11.10 contains netatalk 2.2~beta4-1 I downloaded netatalk 2.2.1, built it and replaced the release version with this and it now works. If you do do this, remember that there's a quiet dependency on libgcrypt-dev - you need to have libgcrypt-dev installed when you build in order to get a new uams_dhx2 built and installed.
