For me this happens when I navigate to ~/Pictures folder. There's a very large .gif file there, which you can take here: http://depositfiles.com/files/vcpqmrwd4 The file is GIF country map 14983x19281, file size 128MB. So I suppose tumblerd daemon just chokes on this.
I have 1GB of memory. First memory goes up to the limit, then swap goes to 100%, it sits like this for about 2 minutes, unusable, and then back to normal. I found an old thread here: http://mail.xfce.org/pipermail/thunar- dev/2008-February/004350.html discussing the problem, and from what I understand this is still not implemented. But if someone knows the solution (make thumbnailer ignore large pictures) this would be helpful. For now I will just delete the file ;-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/812519 Title: Tumblerd used all available memory and swap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tumbler/+bug/812519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
