I was suffering from the same problem and I found a workaround on this blogpost: http://blog.jvc26.org/2011/09/29/multimonitor-ubuntu-oneiric- fglrx (thanks jvc26)
It seemed quite logical, however, what I noticed was if I started amd control centre from the dash, it would always crash if I pressed "apply" but if you type in your terminal: gksudo amdcccle (yes three c's not, two like in the blogpost) then it does allow you to apply the changes and from now on I don't have any problems. I'm using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics card. I had the same issues with beta 1 and 2, now with clean install of the final release, the problem continues -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838659 Title: [Inspiron M4110] can't output to external monitor via VGA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/838659/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
