I've been working on this for a few hours and not able to get saslauthd to lookup logins either. upgraded and ensured that libsasl2-2 etc is all installed, has been working fine for the last couple of years and Ubuntu version upgrades without a problem. Logs show nothing useful. I found a posting about the new version of sasl using multiarch paths and postfix having it hardcoded, not sure if that effects this.
