I'm very disappointed that the Ubuntu developers allowed this release to
proceed with such a basic requirement missing. Not allowing users to
customize their desktop is unacceptable. Because of this regression, I
will not be upgrading to the 11.10. In a number of the related bugs, a
claim is made that this is an upstream issue and the problem needs to be
brought up there. This is a cop out by the Ubuntu developers. Ubuntu
delivers the desktop. They need to insure that it is functional for
their users. Blaming someone else for their poor decisions reflects
poorly on them and on their ability to meet their users needs.
