Public bug reported: I have a ThinkPad with an ATI Radeon Mobility card. This used to work great with 10.04 but fails with 11.04 and 11.10. Not sure at what point it broke since I didn't use 10.10. I'll post more information as I get it.
Currently the Xorg log doesn't show any errors with the DRM / DRI / GLX modules and the kernel appears to have loaded the required modules but I'll double check this. If I use the "ati" or "radeon" driver, which I believe are the same anyway, X comes up but has no 3D. glxgears reports about 10FPS. Using the "frglx" driver, which I believe is ATI's driver, exactly the same happens but glxgears crashes! I'm not sure what packages this involves, I've just come to Ubuntu from Mandriva and I'm not yet familiar with the DEB package management. I'll get more information to you ASAP. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874132 Title: No 3D nor Unity using a Radeon Mobility card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/874132/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
