Public bug reported: At boot, gdm won't display the usual greeting prompt. Screen remain black, with mouse cursors rotating, for 20-30 seconds. Then, X restart automatically, ad gdm shows the correct login prompt. From the syslog I can see than the first time, gdmgreeter exit immediately, causing some automatism to restart X server. This time gdmgreeter starts correctly.
I normally configure gdm for automatic login; whit this behaviour it show me a prompt (no automatic login). I tried to purging ad reinstalling gdm, but this makes no difference. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- gdm won't start the first time; second does https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114232 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
