Public bug reported: On a fresh install when logging in with Unity and Unity 2D it takes 5-10+ min to get any type of usable desktop. Typing takes a few seconds for each character and running any applications is impossible. This is on a machine that has 8GB of RAM and a core i5 CPU and Intel HD graphics. Installing Gnome Shell makes the system usable.
Also the fans are running very loud when trying to use Unity. The laptop is a ASUS u43F and it runs Ubuntu 11.04 just fine. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872079 Title: Unity is slow and unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/872079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
