I'm having an absolutely horrible experience here :^(

I've never been stuck like this before. Post installation the CD fails
to eject at all now, the display says remove and close tray but the tray
is not open ............... but pushing the button fails to open the
tray.

More sadly the newly installed DE fails to boot. But this old CD ROM is
also in question.

If the devs are only testing in VM's I'd suggest they try some actual
hardware installs. I'm going to wait until next week and try again since
I don't have a warehouse full of spare drives!
