I installed proprietary driver and rebooted and the problem was still there initially but now it is working properly again.I had something crash and restart and after that it seemed to fix the problem.Which log file is responsible for logging app crashes, i tried to open log file viewer from the launcher but it was empty as i run into this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/gnome- utils/+bug/841085
