I have to correct myself: Actions taken above did improve, but NOT resolve the issue. Freezes still occur every now and then. Performance is rather bad as well, but could be because of the weak signal anyway.
The AVM-Router will soon be replaced by my own one that runs dd-wrt as soon as I get it back, and i really hope this will improve the situation, as I heard of people having freezes with a Fritz!Box/ath9k combination, although the module should never crash, no matter how borked incoming traffic is, and further it should never hang the whole kernel. Analyzing the traffic with wireshark didn't reveal anything suspicious to me. On WPA2-only it now only happens if the (incoming) throughput is "rather high" for some time (typically download/stream/etc. and not necessarily max throughput), and as it seems there is no correlation to the overall amount of data received. I as well compiled the latest state of compat-wireless, or other kernel- versions up to 3.1-rc6, it did not change a thing, freezes could even occurr seconds after rebooting (WPA+WPA2 in parallel), and did NEVER occur when only using the ethernet-connection. I tried to enable debug-messages in ath9k to pin down what happens before the systems hangs, but I was not successful enabling them while following the according instructions I found (the according flag was generously ignored, the original developer-pages for the module at kernel.org were down at the time). If someone has an advice what else I could do to help pin down/fix this bug (as long as I have this AVM-Router at my place) please let me know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838016 Title: AR9287 hangs on ubuntu 11.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/838016/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
